Surprise!

This evening my husband informed me that I needed to drive him into town.  What?  I'm willing but that's silly when his truck is sitting right there and it works and so does my van if he wants to use it.  But no, my husband needs ME to drive him into town.  I asked him why and he wouldn't say.  I asked him if we are picking dad up at the airport or something but he said, "No, but that sure would be cool!"  I asked him if we were going out to eat, but no.  Hmmmm!
He actually did the driving and as we passed town and were driving well out of town on the other side I reminded him, "You said, you wanted me to drive you to town but we've passed it!"

"I guess that's why I'm doing the driving he said.  He finally leaned over and told me,  "I bought a truck!"
"You bought a truck!!!"  I had to peel my eyebrows back off the ceiling.  "And you got the money where?"
He smiled,  "It cost me a dollar!"
"Wow!  Do I really want to see this truck?
As we got to my husband's bosses home he had this truck to give us.
Absolutely amazing!  What a gift!
Here is our old truck.

Here is our new truck and my absolutely tickled husband!

God is so good!

Pics of the boys

It thought it was about time to take some nice pictures of the boys.  I got one done "proffesionally" at Wallmart but I'm not terribly impressed.  So....I took my camera out today and even though it is wet and rainy today, we got some nice pictures.  Here they are.

Our own personal Hawaii

Ok, so it is not exactly Hawaii but it was very warm, very sunny, and very beautiful!  A great place to rest on Sabbath!  It is actually Kusawa lake.

Before, Create, And After

My boys were busy the other morning with their first real wood and power tools project.  It started first with a long, on-going problem with a tiny folding table being used for their school computer.  If all they needed was the monitor and key board it wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that they have to dangle their legs around the criss-crossed legs of the folding table, which is uncomfortable.  Anyway, the bigger problem was that anytime they needed to write out their math facts or phonics assignments from the computer they would have to put the key board on their lap while putting their notebook on the table top.  Then when they were through writing out their problem, they would have to exchange the key board on their lap with the notebook.  Well, I came up with an idea and showed them the plan.  They practically did the rest by themselves with some supervision.  It was an easy fix that I should have thought of ages ago and it was an easy project for their first time building projects.   They did a great job.

In the pictures, Ziggy hates wearing a shirt and he looks half starved but he's not.  He's just growing like a weed and eating like one too.

Bears

I don't usually tell about what we do at night because that would be a long boring story....sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
But last night was different.  I did do some sleeping but a neighbors dog, through the woods behind us, was barking incesently and somehow I recognized the bark as a big animal bark.  There are a lot of squirrels and little foxes, coyotes and even bigger like wolves but the barking at these animals doesn't get desperate like it does when it is a bear.
I didn't think much of as it was, like i said, through the woods and at the neighbors and not my problem other then the fact that I couldn't sleep.  But, later my dog jumped up and was forociously barking out our windows.  I got up to see what I could see.  I didn't expect the bear to be standing on my porch!  He came over by the door and started eating something.  Oh, my.... we have been very careful not to leave the garbage out but last night my husband had a brain fart and put two big bags of garbage out on the deck to bring to the dump.  Ugh.  It was all over and now the bear was beside my door enjoying his feast of yuck.
Anyway, I tapped on the window and the bear looked at me then went back to eating.  I opened the door a crack and told him to "Go" but he just sat down on his haunches and gave me the, "Aren't I so cute!?" look.  I looked around for something to throw at him.  There was a little stick at my feet (yes, in the house, thanks to my boys being boys) and a hatchet.  I grabbed the stick as I wasn't interested in wounding the big teddy.  I threw the little stick and off he ran around the corner of the house.  So I grabbed a fresh garbage bag and started cleaning up the mess, while watching my back.  Then my husband came out to help me apologizing profusely for not thinking about the bears when he put the garbage out and was helping me when we saw the bear coming round the opposite side of the house and sent our dog, Patches on a chase.  She thoroughly enjoyed the assignment and got pretty close to the rump of the running bear, barking like a mad dog.   She came back seconds later, her tail waving like a flag and as pleased as punch for having had that opportunity.

So that was how my night and early morning was spent with some sleeping in between.

The Varying Moods of the Day

Hello Everyone,
Today was another beautiful Yukon day however, it was varied with sun and cloud all day.  Still I got much accomplished.

My mood started our great this morning.  I was happy and ready to get to work.  Then my dad mentioned the death of a young girl at the place where he works.  She fell into a rushing canal and could not be saved.
My heart dropped.  I don't know the girl or her family but I was so saddened by their news that my heart felt like lead and I cried.  But the day was still ahead of me and I must always do what I can to be a blessing to others.
I took J. with me and together we went to our friend Pat's house to plant part of her garden.  We did a lot of transplanting from her greenhouse into her garden and from seedling pots into the greenhouse soil as well.  It took us till 3:00 in the afternoon but it all looked so beautiful in the end that I wished I had my camera.  Pat is my friend and she has cancer and has taken a trip down South to get some medical treatment that is why I am planting and transplanting for her.  If she were here she would have it all beautifully under control herself.  I hope that I can do her garden justice the way she does.  It was fun to do it and it was a bright moment (or many moments in my day).
This evening my husband informed me that our mortgage broker who we are dealing with for buying our own house and has told us all along for months now that we definately qualify for financing has decided he's not so sure anymore.  I'm so fed up with this house thing.  I want to just throw up my hands and say forget it!  I'll buy a tent and go squat on crown land.  Anyway, so that's just another cloud that has rolled through my day.  This too shall pass and it will be sunny again.
I got all our passport papers filled out today.  Just have to go get pictures done.  Soon I'll be able to cross the boarder again.

Hope all of you have had a day of blessings.

House

Put in an offer on a house last night!  Waiting to see if we get it!  :0)
